Exhibition
Photos have been selected for display at the RAD headquarters in Battersea, London, and all the photos submitted will appear in an online gallery to be shared with our global audience.
The exhibition forms part of our celebration, focusing on Project B – which aims to encourage more boys and men in dance.
The celebration weekend (6 & 7 April) will include workshops in a range of dance styles led by inspiring male dance artists, a choreography competition with prizes of up to £700, alongside inspiring talks and performances from our Project B friends.
What’s in a picture?
It’s time to celebrate the diversity of the male form in dance, in the widest sense of play and creativity through portraiture, documentary images, and experimental photography.
We invite you to make collages, create abstract images, and choreograph your photography!
- What is your dance style (formal or informal)?
- Are your pictures influenced by hair, makeup, nails and clothes?
- What spaces do you dance in? The countryside, city landscapes, dance halls, studios or a theatre?

FAQ’s
Q. What should I capture?
A. The male-identifying form and anything you might associate with dance. Photos should represent males in dance as the theme. The subject is open to interpretation and may be captured in a single image or a series of images. Up to five images may be submitted per individual entry.
Q. Who can submit photos?
A. Anyone – however you identify. We welcome submissions from people all over the world regardless of gender, age or experience, from RAD members and non-members. We welcome submissions from all kinds of photographers, professional and non-professionals, students, young people, and community projects/workshops.
Q. When do I need to send my photos?
A. The deadline is the 15 March 2024. Please complete the entry form and make sure this is emailed to participate@rad.org.uk. Photos should be shared We Transfer by the 15 March.
Q. How will the photos be displayed?
A. A number of photos will be selected to be displayed at the RAD. An online gallery will also be shared of all the exhibition entries.
