Community – our opportunities
Wandsworth-based dancers, dance teachers, and companies – we’re looking for you!
At the upcoming Wandsworth Arts Fringe, we will be hosting our third Community Day and, this year, we want to celebrate the wealth of dance right here in our borough. This will take place on 23 June from 12 to 4pm at our headquarters in Battersea. This will be a time to move together and to remind people of the transformative power of dance.
How can you get involved?
Workshops
We will be offering various workshops with local teachers throughout the day in 40-minute slots for various ages, abilities, and genres.*
*Our studios are fitted with specialist floors fitted for ballet shoes, trainers, or bare feet, so may not be suitable if your session requires specialist shoes. If you are unsure about this, please do get in touch.
Performances
We want to give people a chance to watch dance as well, so we will be ending the day with a showcase made up of pieces from local artists, companies and groups of all ages and levels. We are looking for short pieces of up to 10 minutes in length to take part.
The showcase will take place in our studio theatre space, with tickets priced on a ‘pay what you can’ basis, but booking is required and will run twice during the day from 1-2pm and 3-4pm.
We will also have opportunities for short pop-up performances in our reception area, of up to 3 minutes and no more than 3 performers. These are available, for a contribution, so please get in touch for more information.
Stalls
We want to create a dance hub for the day, highlighting the breadth of the dance community in our local area, and we’ll be setting up stalls in our reception area so that you have the opportunity to share information about the dance that you offer. We also hope that this will be a great networking opportunity.
If you would like to get involved, would like more details, or have any questions, please email Ike, our Community Partnership Builder, Ike.
Similarly, we would love to hear any of your suggestions or ideas for the day, so feel free to get in touch.
